"El Ha-Mevin" Devotional

from the EP "Puzzles"

♫ So high above creation yet the scars of earth remain. Sovereign over all yet He understands our pain. El Ha-Mevin, El Ha-Mevin. Grace and mercy from His hands. He who sits above the Heavens is the God who understands ♫

Colossians 1:16 NKJV 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.

Philippians 2:7 NKJV 5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, 7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.

Psalm 103:14 NKJV 14 For He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust.

Hebrews 4:15 NKJV For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.

Pronounced (El ha-meh-veen), El Ha-Mevin is Hebrew for "the God who understands". The song is a thankful call to enter into worship. To remember God's place, our place and how far God went to negate the work of sin and death in our lives, He wiped it out. Even more than, how reassuring is it to know Jesus was tempted in every way we are, how he bore our penalty of sin and death on the cross and that He understands our frame. He understands what it is like to be...you and me. It is one glorious thing to have a loving savior but isn't it that much richer to know that Jesus understands us, every facet of us, and accepts us still?

Question #1: God created all things and is therefore sovereign over all things. He sits high above creation and yet He "made Himself of no reputation...humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death" for us! How does that fact impact your perspective?

Question #2: How does the fact that He truly gets us, that He understands our frame, impact your walk? Your worship?

Question #3: How can these truths impact your work in fulfilling The Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20)?
